In 2019, the country's oldest economic school celebrated its 70th anniversary!

Today it is not only a prestigious forge of highly qualified economic personnel but also the largest scientific-research center, wherein master and doctoral students are prepared in integration with the Institute of Economics "Gylym ordasy" of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, state and international grant projects are implemented. At the current stage, the European project Erasmus+ "Enhancement of higher education and corporate sectors integration in accordance with the new social environment – ENINEDU" is being completed, with total budget amounted to 814,000 euros. The Cluster of Business Competencies Development has become one of the most significant results of this project. The Cluster, which was created a year ago, consists of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center, Stock Market Technologies Center, Islamic Finance Center, and Al-Farabi Business School for MBA, EMBA, and DBA programs.

The Higher School of Economics and Business prepares specialists in a wide range of educational programs: Economics, Management, Marketing, Logistics, Finance, Accounting and Audit, State and Local Government, Project Management, Innovation Management. All of the programs were accredited by the international Agency (FIBAA). At the master's level, the following joint programs are implemented: double degree program with RUDN University (Moscow, Russia), a joint program with the University of Hamad bin Khalifa (Qatar) in Islamic Finance, multidisciplinary programs in e-Commerce and Big Data with the Faculty of Information Technologies.

Research achievements are also significant – more than 50% of professors and teaching staff of the Higher School of Economics and Business have H-indices in the Scopus database and actively publish papers in highly rated peer-reviewed journals. Academic mobility is growing substantially: more and more faculty members and students go abroad for internships every year, while the number of foreign students who come to study at the Higher School of Economics and Business is growing dynamically.
