          Umirbek Arislanovich born March 1, 1931 in the village of Kyzyl-Suu district of Chimkent Chimkent (now - South Kazakhstan) area. He graduated from the Kazakh middle school in Shymkent with a gold medal (1949). A graduate of Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (1954), graduate of the Moscow Textile Institute (1961).
          Honored Scientist of the Kazakh SSR (1974), Doctor of Technical Sciences (1972), Professor (1973), Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan (1979), laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR (1982), statesman and public figure. Senator. Rector of the Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov (19 June 1970 - 10 June 1986), Head. Department of Applied Mechanics (1973-1978, 1985-12 September 1988).
          On August 31, 1988 he transferred to the post of head of the Laboratory of Engineering and Research Center of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. Appointed head of the Department of Science and the National Scientific and Methodological Center for Robotics at KazSU. Even in the post of the President of Kazakhstan Engineering Academy, he taught at the Kazakh State University.
          Until 1994 - Head of Laboratory, Director, Honorary Director of the Institute of Mechanics and Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of RK. In 1994-1995 - Chairman of the Committee on Science, Education and new technologies of the Supreme Council. The founder and first president of the Republic of Kazakhstan National Academy of Engineering (1995-1999).
Umirbek Arislanovich paid great attention to continuous improvement of the level of the graduates University, training in new trades, the further development of scientific schools and international cooperation.
          Yet in 1963 he initiated the KazSU was opened specialization "theory of machines and mechanisms" (TMP), and two years later the republic for the first time received the graduates in this specialty.
          On the basis of the Kazakh State University in 1971, he created the Kazakh branch of the All-Union scientific seminar on the theory of mechanisms and machines and laboratories that performed the first days of orders Siberian plants and Kostanai worsted woolen mill.
          In 1973 he created the Department of Applied Mechanics. Together with the Moscow professor N.I. Levitsky in 1974, is developing a new program of the course "Theory of mechanisms and machines", in which all the universities of the USSR worked.
Since 1975, student seminars on narrow areas with the participation of graduate students have been introduced at the department. The national tour of our students took first or second place.

          He is the author of the first textbook on the mechanisms and machines in the Kazakh language (1972.1979), Russian-Kazakh Polytechnic explanatory dictionary (1974) and the Kazakh-Russian Dictionary of Mechanical Engineering (1975).
          For many years, continuously fully gave himself - all his tireless energy, all the heat of his heart guide one of the largest in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, training and research centers, some became KazSU, brought him to the forefront of science and higher education. Under his leadership, our university four times (1977,1978,1979, 1980) came out the winner of the All-Union competition
He was awarded the Order of Red Banner of Labor (1971, 1976), Lenin (1981) and medals, the Honorary Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR, international gold medal named after V.G. Shukhov (1992) and an international gold medal named after al-Khorezmi (Iran, 1992).
