
Nurlan Yermekovich Sauranbayev is the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
He was born in 1967 in the city of Zhambyl. In 1991, he graduated from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with a degree in economics.
He began his professional career in 1991 as the head of a private commercial company, where he worked until 1997.
1997–1998 – Executive Director of the Entrepreneurs' Congress of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
1998–2000 – Director of the Department at the Republican State Enterprise “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy”.
2000–2002 – First Vice President and Chief Manager of Atyrau Oil Refinery JSC under Kazakhoil National Oil Company; Head of the project management team for the refinery restructuring.
2002–2004 – Director of the Engineering and Service Projects Department at KazMunayGas National Company.
2004–2007 – General Director of TengizService LLP.
2007–2020 – Managing Director at KazMunayGas National Company.
2010–2011 – Adviser to the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund and Managing Director.
2011–2014 – Vice Minister of Industry and New Technologies.
2014–2016 – Deputy Minister of Defense.
2016–2017 – Head of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the EXPO-2017 International Specialized Exhibition.
2017–2018 – Akim (Mayor) of Shymkent city.
From 2019 until his current appointment – Head of the Department for State Control and Territorial-Organizational Work of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In June 2025, he was appointed Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
