Graduates of the Faculty of Journalism at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU), class of 1994, made a special New Year’s gift to their alma mater. In a warm and festive ceremony, they donated 10 comfortable chairs for the soon-to-be-opened coworking center at the faculty. This modern space is envisioned as a vibrant hub for students to collaborate, share ideas, and nurture their creative skills.

The event coincided with two significant milestones: the 90th anniversary of KazNU and the 30th anniversary of the alumni’s graduation. The Faculty of Journalism organized an extensive program to welcome its distinguished guests. The alumni were treated to a fascinating tour of KazNU’s museum, which houses over 5,000 exhibits that document the university’s history. Among the highlights are artifacts dating back to its founding in 1934, including the record books of the very first students.

During the event, the alumni had the opportunity to witness the incredible advancements the university has made over the decades. From state-of-the-art classrooms to the expansive Al-Farabi library, which boasts a collection of over 2 million books and learning materials, the transformation of KazNU was evident.

Notable alumni participating in the celebration included Anna Reznik, Deputy Chief Editor of Forbes Kazakhstan; journalists Yevgenia Tsai and Andrey Magai from Koryo Ilbo; Arman Kudaibay, a columnist for Arguments and Facts Kazakhstan; and other prominent figures. Alumni unable to attend in person, including Azima Ruzuddinova from Canada and Stella Akhmurzina from Atyrau, joined the event via video call to share their congratulations and well-wishes.

The reunion also included heartfelt meetings with former professors, including esteemed faculty members Sagymbay Kozhibaev, Larisa Noda, and Alexander Rozhkov. The educators emphasized the enduring prestige of the journalism profession and the faculty’s role as a leading institution for training highly skilled professionals in Kazakhstan.

Professor Sagymbay Kozhibaev addressed the alumni with inspiring words:
“Your hearts remain dedicated to your chosen field. You are deserving of the highest praise, and we wish you continued creative achievements and success!”

The alumni expressed their deep gratitude to their mentors and reaffirmed their pride in being part of the KazNU legacy. They concluded the celebration with a shared hope for the continued prosperity of their beloved alma mater, a sentiment echoed by everyone in attendance.
